Children

In most cases, family therapy is the chosen method to assist children in overcoming emotional and behavioral challenges. Parents are the most important figures in a child’s life which is why it is imperative that they are at the center of the counseling process. During therapy, parents are supported in enacting their vision for the family while at the same time learning to understand and validate the feelings and perspectives of the child. Children learn how to respect the natural order of the family while developing the skills to express themselves and ask for what they want and need. In therapy, families learn trust through the establishment of standards and commitments to one another, learn problem resolution skills, learn to experience consistent nurturing relationships, remember to laugh and play, and challenge each other to grow and develop in new ways. Together, we build strong meaningful lasting relationships that will become the child’s foundation as they gradually forge their way into the world.
